This past Saturday, my friends held a benefit on my behalf. For months they met weekly to plan and organize for this day. Local businesses, citizens, friends and relatives from all over donated many items for raffles and silent auction. There was so much for people to win!
By the time I arrived at 11:30 in the morning, the venue was already packed to the rim! It stayed that way into the evening! Sitting in the room filled with people who were there to support me made me feel nervous and excited at the same time. At one point it was so packed, I was literally backed into a corner! I had a chance to visit with so many old friends, relatives and even made new friends.
I am filled with gratitude for the number of people in my life who care about me and my well-being! I know that although I deal with obstacles every day, there is always some one willing to lend a helping hand and helping heart whenever I need it.
One of the unexpected outcomes from this benefit was an article written about me. I had no idea the article would have been printed beyond Wausau, much less Wisconsin. My article has been reprinted in papers across multiple states! I have received messages from people who have CP or have a loved one with CP. I even received a message from a young lady in a different country! All of this inspires me to continue to see past my disability and strive to be the best person I can be. It also inspires me to continue to blog and do my best to help others whenever possible. I have a feeling this is just the beginning of my incredible journey through life!
I want to send a special thank you to those who organized and volunteered at my benefit. Sissa, Krystal, Candy, Rob, Rachel, Bridger, Vicki, Deb O, Nelly, Jackie, Sean, Adam, Ta-ta, Uncle Tony, Emily, Sarah, Mark, Daphne, Trails End Staff and my mom. There were so many people, I hope I did not forget anyone. I would also like to thank all the contributors, there are far too many to list today! Many thanks to everyone who showed their love and support by attending my benefit! I would also like to thank Keith Ulig and TZ from the Wausau Daily Herald for writing about my story and sharing it with so many people.
I am truly grateful, inspired and blessed!
